Alpine Hunting New Zealand - for the ultimate red stag hunt!

June 2009 Newsletter

Yesterday was the longest (and felt like the coldest) day of the year.  It's amazing how time flies here at Alpine Hunting.  We've started hunting on our new Te Puke ranch with amazing results, taking great Sambar and Rusa deer (See Pete Plaza and David Backman below).  These animals are extremely elusive so it makes for a challenging hunt!

Back at our main lodge the hunting has been awesome as usual and some great Sika and Fallow deer have been taken.  It was a particlar thrill for me to take 13 year old Bree Backman on her first hunt, as I love seeing kids get 'the hunting bug'.  15 year old Sophie Shaw shot her first stag and my 11 year old son Liam took his stag a couple of months ago (See 'Latest news' on the website for his own account of the hunt).  I get a lot of enjoyment taking young people out to hunt and think it's something every kid should have a go at.

We are waiting for SCI to confirm our world records this season, potentially with Kenny Jarrett's Tahr, Pete Plaza's Sambar, Colby Nitterhouse's Sika, and Jim Stavola's Red stag.

We only have a few more weeks of the season left, but there are still some awesome stags to be taken.  The website will continue to be updated with news, photos and TV Shows, and our next newsletter will be in September.  To all our past clients, keep in touch, we love to hear about your latest hunt, and to prospective clients, call us anytime for a chat or feel free to call any clients on the 'Testimonials' page of the website to hear about their hunting experiences with Alpine Hunting New Zealand.

Cheers, Shane
