Lodges
Alpine Hunting Lodge (Taihape) Our purpose built hunting lodge sits right in the middle of our hunting area, near the headwaters of the Rangitikei River and is ideal for both hunters and non-hunters. Located on a sunny knoll and surrounded by stunning views of mountains and magnificent scenery our lodge has six guest rooms, all with queen size beds and ensuite bathrooms.
We have a large deck area from where you can spot game, and a private Jacuzzi area with a large brick BBQ that can be lit as a fireplace for ambience when the cooler temperatures pass through. Our lodge is equipped with satellite internet and a wireless system for guests with laptops, and we also provide a guest computer so you can keep in touch with home.
For guests wishing to ‘kick back' we have an extensive book and DVD library, and we encourage you to kick your shoes off and put your feet up in front of the fire. We have an in-house chef who prepares nothing but the best New Zealand cuisine, and a housekeeper to service your rooms and provide a laundry service. We always have team members on hand to offer you assistance with anything, even if it's just to keep non-hunters company or to arrange ‘outings' to the nearest town.
Franz Josef (Tahr & Chamois hunting)
When you embark on a Chamois and Tahr adventure, we'll fly you in our own Cessna 206 directly from our Alpine Lodge in the North Island, to our South Island base...over some of the most stunning coastline in the South Pacific. Franz Josef Lodge is situated just a couple of miles from the quaint Franz Josef village and sits nestled at the base of the breathtaking Franz Josef Glacier, classified as a World Heritage Area.
Your southern hosts are helicopter pilot Brian McBride and his wife Jacque... which means you can just eat your breakfast and then head straight back out the door into the Alpine Hunting owned MD520N (Notar) helicopter for some adrenalin packed heli-hunting and awe inspiring scenery.
The lodge has 3 bedrooms all with en-suites and Jaque's meals bring back childhood memories with mouth-watering homemade soups and hearty roasts that make you end the day with sighs of content!
Te Puke Estate
Te Puke estate has comfortable quarters that are sundrenched and elevated with views of the South Pacific Ocean in the distance. Put your feet up after a great hunt for the finest Sambar and Rusa in the land. It's our own 'motel' in the backblocks with 2 Queen bedrooms, open-planned kitchen and lounge where you and your guide stay exclusively. Only 20 minutes from New Zealand's most popular tourist destination Rotorua, you can combine a cultural trip with the hunt with your own personal guide!
