US hero is given a warm welcome at Alpine Hunting
Decorated US marine, Jody Perritt, was not looking for a new job when he came to Alpine Hunting. With three tours of Iraq under his belt, his Purple Heart as proof of his courage and bravery, and fighting an ongoing battle to overcome a recent brain injury, Jody came to Alpine Hunting looking for some rest and relaxation.
“It was breathtaking! I didn’t want to leave. I even told Shane I would work if he would let me stay,” explains Jody.
Alpine Hunting offered through Safari Club International a free Gold Medal Stag and Fallow Deer Hunt to a wounded war veteran for Sarari Clubs Expedition Safari TV show with Mike Rogers. Given Jody’s history, this was well deserved. He had enlisted in the forces in 2003, and began a five year service that included three tours in Iraq. During the Battle of Fallujah, he was shot in the arm by an insurgent sniper and later received a Purple Heart.
He ended up going back to Iraq for two more tours of duty and was quickly promoted to Sergeant before his third and final combat tour with the Marine Corps. On his last stint in Iraq in the fall of 2007, while conducting a routine patrol, Jody’s squad was hit by a roadside bomb and he suffered a traumatic brain injury
Despite being back in the civilian world, Jody still had the heart of an adventurer. “As an adrenalin junkie, the prospect of hunting at the Number One red stag destination in the world was thrilling,” says Jody.
Jody reluctantly left for home but says he will return.
“I'm bringing my wife back with me next time!”
